This year will see the twelfth time that the film industry event "Scanorama Directions" (Scanoramos kryptys) is inviting cinema professionals for seminars and discussions, where film creators of the year will not only be encouraged to improve their practical professional skills but also to acquire a more in-depth knowledge of the current events in film industry as well its practical and theoretical challenges.

In "Scanorama Directions", which begins on 11th November, cinematographers will have the opportunity to meet acclaimed authors, as well as directors who are only just embarking on their creative journey but have already drawn attention in international festivals. Sharing their thoughts on the creative process will be the internationally recognised Ukrainian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa and a beginning German director, author of the political satire "Self-criticism of a Bourgeois Dog" (Selbstkritik eines bürgerlichen Hundes), Julian Radlmaier.

Lithuanian animators will have the opportunity to learn more about the production and distribution of animation. Luce Grosjean, a French producer and founder of the company "Seve Films", will be sharing her experience. She will discuss the methods of international dissemination of independent animation.

"Scanorama Directions" invites you to an open discussion sparked by the study "Women in Film Industry", which was initiated by Lina Kaminskaitė-Jančorienė and is currently being conducted by the public body "Meno Avilys" - the first study of such kind in the Baltic states. Along with foreign guests, notable Lithuanian artists will take part in the discussion: director and screenwriter Eglė Vertelytė, producer Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė, film theorist and author of "The Short Manual of Feminist Film Theory", Natalija Arlauskaitė; the discussion will be moderated by Lina Kaminskaitė Jančorienė.

Filmmakers and the representatives of their rights will benefit from Daiva Jurkonytė’s practical lecture "Defending Rights Before and Instead of Going to Court", which will introduce you to relevant legal information and authorship defence processes.
