Dagmar Jacobsen

Producer (Germany)
After studying sociology and journalism at the Free University of Berlin, doing various research projects for the FU Berlin as well as the National Audiovisual Institute of Paris, the Agnelli Foundation of Turin and the Festival dei Popoli of Florence, among others, she completed the German Film and Television Academy’s program in film production (1983-1987). At the same time as directing her own film projects, she developed an interest in film production. This led to the founding of Ma.Ja.De. Filmproduktions GmbH. Upon creation of the European cultural television channel Arte, a new business branch opened up: preparing German versions for documentary films from all over the world, which has driven the business of Alias Film & Sprachtransfer since 1995. From 1995 to 2003 as business manager and partner of integral Film GmbH since 2000, she has produced and co-produced films like Anna’s Summer by Jeanine Meerapfel, Tosca by Benoît Jacquot, L’Annulaire by Diane Bertrand, and other co-productions with European partners. In 2004 she founded Selavy Filmproduktion with Paul Müller (Cologne) and Christian Baute (Paris). The first co-production El Otro by Ariel Rotter won two Silver Bears at the 2007 Berlinale. She founded Selavy GmbH & Co. KG together with Christian Baute (Paris) and Clementina Hegewisch (Berlin) in 2010. The first projects are an animation film by Simon Rouby in co-production with Naja Films Paris, then the German-Israeli feature film Our Inheritance by Martina Reuter (script) and Dror Zahavi (director) and The Pink Rabbit by Marc Rothermund. From 2006 until 2010 she was responsible for the producers’ education at the German Film and Television Academy. She has been a member of several funding bodies. Since 2007 she has been a regular consultant for the Media supported Sources2 programme. She is a member of the European Film Academy (EFA).
