Takahiro Hamano

Hamano started working for NHK, a Japanese public broadcasting, in 1990 as a director of news magazine shows and documentaries of current affairs. In 2000, he studied interactive digital technology for TV at the American Film Institute (AFI). Since 2002, he has been co-producing TV programs in high definition (HD) with international partners from China, Canada, France, the UK and the US. As an assistant producer of NHK, he was involved in production of award-winning HD films and has co-produced many documentaries and dramas.
In 2007 Hamano also launched a 90 minutes documentary slot, Frontier on NHK’s HD channel, which introduces high-end documentaries. As of April 2009, Hamano is working as an Executive Producer for NHK Enterprises, Inc., a production company of NHK where he is in charge of making strategy for international acquisitions, distributions and co-productions. He is also co-producing programs for NHK.
