1913, Budapest, in the heart of Europe. The young Irisz Leiter arrives in the Hungarian capital with
high hopes to work as a milliner at the legendary hat store that belonged to her late parents.
However, the city welcomes her with challenges and a dark family secret, which she starts to
investigate. Her quest brings her through the dark streets of Budapest, into the turmoil of a
civilisation on the eve of its downfall.

László Nemes

László Nemes worked as an assistant director for filmmakers including Béla Tarr. His debut feature,
"Son of Saul" (2015), also presented at "Scanorama", won the Grand Prix at Cannes and the
Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
